VANILLA CINNAMON HEARTY KISS "SQUARES"

The fragrance of Cinnamon with Vanilla is addictive , something u always want ur kitchens and homes to smell of.
I for one totally lovee having freshly grated cinnamon with my coffee everyday , a coffee aint exaclty to ''wake'' me up , its more for me to enjoy and love , and whenever i am baking i always brew some coffee, yeah and i have a new fav too:-) and something to keep the coffee warm ,but saving that for another post , ie the Loving this week posts which i so plan to post with a linky every wednesday/thursday!

Back to these bars , they are chosen by my very dear pal Chaya , for thi weeks Bake @ Baking with Dorie , a small group , started by Grapefruit ,we are baking our way thru Baking from my home to urs...twice a month and with barely any rules.
Makes for a relaxed baking and posting, which is always an incentive!

I cannot resist baking hearts and i did so with these too :-), they are absolutely lovely with coffee or as a midnight snack...
Hearts of all sizes , with a dark chocolate Nutella topping....

I had a little disaster , that turned into a delicious treat , look below for details and pics:-)

To begin with , we need to make the Vanilla Cinnamon sugar .....
I begin with some Vanilla sugar , bourbon Madagascar Vanilla sugar....
3whole tbh of the sugar..
And Cinnamon , Sri Lankan Cinnamon , 
 freshly grated...Stir all that with some espresso powder...
 And Vietnamese Cinnamonis the other cinnamon in there....
And i wanted to make it a one bowl batter , so first i whisked the eggs and warmed milk , adding a little at a time with the beater...
See how frothy that gets?
I dont know if it was this that contributed to the cake sticking to the molds or simply underbaking them,more on that and how i found some delicious way to save it later...
 Whisk the flour and baking powder , add the milk and egg mixture , beat lightly , then fold in the butter , i beat it on low, coz it showed no sign of mixing in with the spatula...
 Now these are the reason why they are called Kisses in the first place....Well i went with Hersheys mini kisses and Candy cane Kisses , i thought of Hugs , but this was last min and there  was no way i could get those now..
So u put in half the batter , since i had different sized molds , i did this with the large scoops , so had equal layers, place the chocolate , sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar , with a free hand here, and cover with equal amount of batter.....
Ditto.....
Yeah i had cinnamon sugar left for my coffee.....
Ok , so my oven has a mind of its own (ok now im playing the blame game but this is the truth) , so the only way i can know its done is by when i feel its just right ,usually by smell and feel , i look for signs of doneness, ok so when i thought it was done and popped one of those tiny ones in my mouth , yeah i always do love to eat them straight outa the oven , specially when its a new bake , they were jus right , i thought the heat would get the others perfect too, if only i had inserted the knife in , i would know otherwise .
Like wise the larger heart.
I was wrong , it need atleast another 15 mins in the oven , so when i went to turn the cakes , and another mistake , i let them cool too long in the molds, they were sticky and stuck , all over, and breaking.
This could be overbeating or under baked(after cooling it didn seem so) or combi of both , so well i needed to save the delicious cakes.
It couldn be the molds coz i never ever had a prob with silicone till date , i think this is why Dorie says in the recipe to use parchment and turn it and peel off, i should have guessed!
So all the broken off to one side , trimmed the hearts , all the scrapes went to gather to be one large Cake pop , and that i molded into 2 hearts...
here they are....
And sliced they make an absolutely wonderful treat....
And a Large heart too......
with the same luscious dark chocolate Nutella frosting....
